The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team are planning to hold four half day sessions to raise awareness on the Mental Capacity Act. These sessions will be used to up date homes on issues surrounding the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and provide guidance on the following areas of the Mental Capacity Act:
• Statutory principles
• Capacity testing
• Best interest decisions
• Mental Capacity Act in risk management
• The importance of the Mental Capacity Act around risk management and care planning.
The details for the half day awareness sessions are as follows:
• 22/09/2009 Shotton Hall, Peterlee
• 25/09/2009 Durham Cricket Club, Riverside, Chester le Street
• 30/09/2009 Durham Leadership Centre, Spennymoor
• 07/10/2009 Aycliffe Young People’s Centre
Registration for each session will be at 8.45am and the session will end at 12.30pm. The sessions are free of charge.
