Accept Care of Consett held their second Awards Event on December 2nd 2009. This was a particularly special event as one member of staff became the first County Durham recipient of the SKILLS for CARE LEARNER of the YEAR AWARD.
Lorraine Clegg, the recipient of the Skills for Care Award, was nominated for this award because of her outstanding commitment to Learning & Development. Lorraine worked particularly hard to gain a wide range of qualifications both in the generic Health and Social Care area and also in specialist areas to enhance her ability to support the clients within the project. Lorraine is a very worthy winner of this award.
Other awards presented on the day applauded the development and commitment of both staff and clients for both Learning and Development achievements and for personal development.
Every recipient was a worthy winner and this was made even more special because the staff were nominated by their colleagues for the awards.
One particularly special award went to Ian Hodgson, the handyman, who has been commended by colleagues for the supportive role he provides to both staff and clients alike. Ian works above and beyond the call of duty, far beyond the boundaries of his specific role and is valued by all at Accept Care.
The event was well attended and welcomed by all present.
