County Durham DISC held their Staff Away Day at Hall Garth Golf & Country Club, Darlington, and the first business of the day was the presentation of a Skills for Care Learner of the Year Award to Jo Hall.
Jo was a very worthy winner of the award, her achievements are extensive and she makes a major difference to the families she works with.
To quote her employers "her learning has made a real difference to the lives of the people she supports, she’s gained qualifications whilst working at DISC, she’s used non-traditional learning routes"
they continued "Jo is a fantastic role model for lifelong learning both within DISC and also in the wider community. She’s committed to learning. She applies what she learns to her work effectively and she enables people to move on, achieve goals, transform their lives and make lasting and positive changes. She supports the development of other staff, volunteers and service users, including peer educators."
Jo is widely respected by both her peers and the families she works with, who sing her praises at every opportunity and her award was enthusiastically applauded by her colleagues.
