Two new Key Facilities are now available on the SCILS/EILS website:
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
&
GROUP SHARING FORUMS
a) PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN: This enables managers to easily register staff and create Personal Development Plans for them. The plans can contain Learning Sessions from SCILS / EILS, or Units from Social Care Qualifications. Template plans based on job profiles can be created by managers which can be assigned to any number of staff they manage.
Once 'development plans' have been assigned to learners they are able to update plans as they complete sessions or units. The manager and learner have access to the plan all the time via the website. Any supporting evidence of completion of units or learning sessions can be uploaded to the plan for the Manager to assess.
Anyone working on the SCILS/EILS Online Induction Booklets will automatically have a plan created. This plan will automatically be updated as the learners complete the online booklet and answers can be submitted to the manager for assessment via the Personal Development Plan facility. We are planning to roll this out across every Learning Session enabling answers to be entered online and becoming available for assessment by the Learner's Manager or Assessor through the Personal Development Plan facility.
The PDP has been live since November 2009. However, we have been developing it further since then and now feel it is at a stage to promote it. The facility can be accessed by logging in and clicking on Personal Development Plan from the top green menu. User Guides for all job roles are available on the Overview page of the Personal Development Plan.
b) GROUP SHARING FORUMS: This facility was produced in December 2009. It enables groups to be created on the website and for documents, events or
ideas to be shared within the specific groups. Groups have been created for every Local Authority that currently subscribes to SCILS/EILS and all registered users will find themselves in the appropriate group. If you organise or know of a forum that would like to share information in this way, for instance Practice Supervisors, then these group forums can be created.
The Group Sharing facility can be accessed by logging in and clicking on Group Sharing from the top green menu.
SCILS are keen to receive feedback on both these facilities and welcome your comments.
